The sweet victory was indeed dramatic since Mickelson’s wife Amy is fighting her breast cancer for almost a year now.

“It has been an emotional year,” quipped Mickelson, and added, “I’m very proud of the fight and struggle she has been through. It has been very difficult and very emotional. To be on the other end and feel the jubilation is incredible.”

Woods who was in a hiatus for several months after his wife exposed him of his extra-marital affairs with twelve women finished tied for fourth with South Korean K.J.  Choi on 277 after firing a final round 3-under par 69. The two golfers was just a stroke behind third placer Anthony Kim of US.

With this stirring triumph Mickelson increase his Masters title to three and his major titles to four. Mickelson climbed to a share of fourth on the All-Time Masters win list, four short of legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus and just one away of Woods and Arnold Palmer.

This year’s edition of the Augusta will go down as one of the most emotional championships, as Mickelson was seen embracing his beloved wife.
