Filipino Junior Tennis Ace Petrombon Humbled by an Aussie Teenager

Second-seeded Andrew Whittington of Australia pulled out a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over top seed Filipino Jeson Patrombon in final round of the Mitsubishi Lancer International Juniors Championship at the jam-packed Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
The sorry loss of the Petrombon disappointed the partisan Filipino crowd but still his superb overall performance in the tournament to give some measure of delight and pride.

Last week Petrombon also fall prey to the taller 6-2 Whittington in the Sarawak Chief Masters in Malaysia.
Petrombon who is ranked 9th best junior in the world is bothered by a leg and injury and could not overcome the power-hitting serve of his opponent.

The world’s 12th ranked player Whittington now leveled his head-to-head record with Petrombon to 2-2. The Filipino won over Whittington in the round of 16 of the Australian Open and in the quarterfinal of the Thailand leg.

Roger Federer Shows Fiery Form at the Start of Australian Open

The Australian Open is finally on full swing as favorites advance to the next round with mixed results. Swiss number one Roger Federer stave off a sluggish start but regain its fine form on time to show the door to Russian Igor Andreev 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) in his opening match at the Australian Open.
