Manny Pacquiao Philippines’ Athlete of the Decade



The Philippine Sportswriters Association of the Philippines selected Manny Pacquiao as a a hands down winner choice as Athlete of the Decade. The Reigning pound-for-pound boxer in the world, Pacquiao was named as PSA Athlete of the Year five times this decade, having won the coveted plum from 2002 to 2004, in 2006 and 2008. Last year Pacquiao was enshrined to the Hall of Fame in the same award giving body in the Philippines.

Pacquiao Creates Another Milestone Demolishes Cotto With a TKO Win



LAS VEGAS – Manny Pacquiao’s potent speed and power and witty boxing skill smotherd Miguel Cotto’s determination and dream of instant boxing fame. Pacquiao unleashes another superb performance and extracted a another huge and overpowering win this time against the taller and heftier Cotto the reigning welterweight champion from Puerto Rico. Pacquiao floored Cotto with crisp combination in the third and fourth round and takes the light out on Cotto when the bout was halted by the referree after 55 seconds in the 12th round.

The Filipino pug the reigning Pound for Pound King utilized his lightning-fast speed and brute power from both hands to capture his  seventh title in seven weight classes (the most and the most prolific by any boxer in the sports) and stalled himself as one of the greatest boxer of all time in the world. Cotto absorbed a huge beating from the boxing star that his face has swell and bloods flows a testament of the power generated by Pacquiao’s punches. Cotto showed great heart though he refused to wilt even as his corner tried to throw in the towel after the 11th round.

“I didn’t know from where the punches were coming,” Cotto said.

“It was a fought fight,” Pacquiao said and added, “I’m pretty sure the people in the Philippines are celebrating now and they’re very happy.”

The fight was billed as a 145-pound welterweight bout which is bound to go as a classic, and in the early rounds both of the contenders fought tooth and nail give fans great amount of excitement.

The overpowering victory of Pacquiao over Cotto added another feather on Pacquiao’s superb cap, that is, seven different classes such as the flyweight, super bantamweight, feather weight, super featherweight, lightweight and light welterweight.

Moreover, Pacquiao already dispatched great fighters like Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton and Oscar Dela Hoya.

Millions of Filipinos in the Philippines and all over the world was ecstatic and jubilant with the colossal victory eked out by Manny Pacquiao, as they were on a celebration frenzy and expect the win to be the subject of discussion on Filipino households in the weeks to come.

A possible blockbuster is currently on the works agains boastful yet talented Floyd Mayweather, and Freddie Roach Pacquiao’s powerhouse tactician wants Mayweather to be the next target.
