Former world number one ranked Filipino, Dennis Orcollo joined the ranks of Efren “Bata” Reyes, Francisco “Django” Bustamante, Alex Pagulayan, Rubilen Amit and Ronnie Alcano as a world champion in billiards as he outclassed Neils Feijen of the Netherlands 10-3 to collar the much-coveted World 8-Ball Pool Championships at the Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
Orcollo who hails from Bislig, Surigao del Sur, also won 9-ball gold medal in the last Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China last year and won prestigious tournaments such as the World Pool League, World Pool Masters, Derby City classic, US Bar Table, Billiards Congress of America. He pocketed a whopping $40,000 for his world title conquest at Fujairah.
Orcollo’s medal winning performance in the Asiad in 2010 also earned him the Athlete of the Year Award from the Philippine Sports Association along with World 9-Ball champion Bustamante, fellow gold medalists Biboy Rivera of Bowling and Rey Saludar of Boxing.

The Philippine Sportswriters Association of the Philippines selected Manny Pacquiao as a a hands down winner choice as Athlete of the Decade. The Reigning pound-for-pound boxer in the world, Pacquiao was named as PSA Athlete of the Year five times this decade, having won the coveted plum from 2002 to 2004, in 2006 and 2008. Last year Pacquiao was enshrined to the Hall of Fame in the same award giving body in the Philippines.
