Certain new rules approved by the World Taekwondo Federation is designed to have more objective scoring system and will spur more excitement in every matches in the sport.
The new rules includes: the elimination of the 12 point ceiling and 7 point margin to automatically stop a bout, the disqualification of a fighter woth an accumulation of four-point violations, the awarding of 3 points for a kick to the face regardless of impact,and scoring two points for a turning kick to the body and the usage of video replay to settle any controversy that sprouts out in the Games.
The Philippine Sportswriters Association of the Philippines selected Manny Pacquiao as a a hands down winner choice as Athlete of the Decade. The Reigning pound-for-pound boxer in the world, Pacquiao was named as PSA Athlete of the Year five times this decade, having won the coveted plum from 2002 to 2004, in 2006 and 2008. Last year Pacquiao was enshrined to the Hall of Fame in the same award giving body in the Philippines.
